The group in its present form commenced in 1986, when the current management bought U.S. and Latin American oil trading interests.

In 1989 a high degree of success in trading activities allowed for the acquisition of oil & gas producing properties in Latin America and Europe, moving the group into the upstream segment of the industry.

In the last decade Hispania has concentrated its efforts on further developing its oil and gas producing interests, and has succeeded in building a worldwide portfolio of high quality assets with proven reserves and significant upside potential. The company has focused on expanding into the LNG market through LNG-to-Power projects that will significantly reduce the carbon footprint on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife

Presently the group has a balanced portfolio with a solid production base, development projects, and high quality exploration prospects. It has also expanded its traditional real estate business into the hospitality sector by investing in boutique hotels in Spain.
